BAKED IN THE MOUNTAINS
After 25 plus years as a nurse- including the last 16 years caring for the veterans at the Boise VA- I retired and finally had the opportunity to spend more time doing something else I've always loved--Baking.
My husband and I have been married for 36 years and for the last 8 years we have called the beautiful community of Robie Creek, Idaho home. Living in the mountains has become a special part of our lives, and ultimately inspired the name Baked In The Mountains.
Cooking and baking have always been a passion of mine, but sourdough holds a special place. I love the entire process--from keeping the starter alive then taking a few ingredients and turning it into a beautiful loaf of bread.
When I retired from nursing, I wasn't ready to simply stop doing things. I wanted to create something of my own. Something fun that would allow me to bake, meet people and share food made with care.
And that is how Baked In the Mountains began.
Today I bake in small batches here in Robie Creek and bring my goodies on the road in my little turquoise trailer.
Whether it's a loaf of bread, a big gourmet cookie or a special event, everything I make is meant to feel homemade and a little special.
